ARTOS Introduces Cr-11 Automatic Crimping Machine
New Affordable Solution Ideal for Low Volume Runs, Supports a High Mix of Wire Types, Wide Range of Wire Processing Applications
WAUKESHA, Wis. (Oct., 2009) – Artos Engineering Company, a Waukesha-based manufacturer of wire processing equipment, announces the arrival of the new Cr-11 wire processing system. The Cr-11 wire processor is feature-rich and engineered for efficiency to handle low volume runs for a high mix of wire types at an affordable price point – a major breakthrough in the industry.
The Cr-11’s use of digital servo-drive technology controls every operation of the new wire processor from Artos. Its automatic wire feed system feeds wire at rates of up to five meters per second and the servo closed loop system ensures consistent quality by checking wire length while feeding. Optional rollers are available for thin insulations along with quick change wire guides. The TU-11 crimping unit enables utilization of a high-level of programmable stroke and split-cycle operation to handle the widest range of applications including closed barrel terminals. Its intelligent software minimizes crimping cycle times to enable maximum production speeds and has the added benefit of a built-in PC interface that runs Artos’ Unity operating software for easy programming. With its common software to all Artos machines, users can share wire programs from machine to machine.
In addition, a unique tool cart quick-change system accommodates both side- and end-feed terminals. Users will be able to quickly change out and pre-load terminal reels maximizing efficiency and machine uptime. The carts allow for easy transport and storage of reels and applicators.
“As with every innovation from Artos, our goal is to develop options that deliver value through efficiency, technological innovation and operational excellence to fulfill a need for our customers,” says John Olsen, Artos Engineering Company president. “The Cr-11 is the affordable, automatic solution our customers have been waiting for and can count on.”
The Cr-11 is highly engineered to improve efficiency for the user. Its optional micrometer and pull testers can be integrated into the machine to verify crimping parameters prior to production and it features an integrated crimp force monitoring system to further increase automation. Its large cylinder provides exceptionally high gripping force for larger gauge wires and the unit’s level placement of the wire into terminals dramatically improves crimping process quality. The in-line blades of the unique cutter head design reduce the gap between wire grippers and the cutterhead provides a significant increase in strip length capability. Artos has carefully engineered each of these efficiencies to ensure the Cr-11 is doing the job users expect of it – processing wire, automatically.
The Cr-11 is powered by a single-phase 220 volt supply that is simple and accessible. Its eco-friendly design reduces energy consumption in comparison to stepper motor designs.
